The original manufactured corset from which we have made this pattern is stamped "Madam Foy's Skirt Supporting Corset. Pat. July 22, 1862, Sep. 15, 1863, Mar. 22, & Nov. 29, 1864. Reissued June 18, 1867." The historical notes contain extensive information about the history of this garment, and it's many modifications, from the mid-1860s through the 1890s.

The original as it appears today is made of a light weight glazed caramel colored cotton twill. This corset may be made with or without shoulder straps.
